Jay Bianchi's The Donkey O.T. moves into former Atmosphere space at 1630 Federal

Nearly a year after Quixote's relocated into the former Bender's location on 13th, owner Jay Bianchi has opened up a new place. This one's called The Donkey O.T. (get it?), and it's at 1630 Federal Boulevard, which was the home of Atmosphere Ultra Lounge since June, 2012. Since the bar overlooks Sports Authority Field, Bianchi says they're jumping off with sports throughout the Broncos season but the club will also operate as a 500-person music venue.

While The Donkey O.T. is still in its soft opening stage, there will be live music three nights a week, and Bianchi says they'll eventually add more nights. Some of the acts will be similar to what Quixote's brings in, but Bianchi has enlisted some other folks to help with the booking, so things will be most likely be a little more varied.

Stir Fried, featuring John Popper and Steve Kimock, will play for the official grand opening, which runs from Friday, November 8, through Sunday, November 10, and DeadPhish Orchestra is lined up for New Year's Eve. Next Monday, October 14, Vermont-based jam-centric band Twiddle and Chuck Morris of Lotus are slated to perform.

The Donkey O.T. has two rooms: one that is the venue side and the other has pool tables and where food is served, and Bianchi hopes to be serving dinner later this week or early next week. With 120 parking spots, people won't have to worry about parking, and they won't have to worry about getting a parking ticket or towed if they take a cab home from The Donkey O.T., unless there's a home Broncos game.

There's a reason this place doesn't stay open. You can't polish a turd.
