Tomorrow night at 1STBANK Center, Mike Alvarado will battle Ruslan Provodnikov in a junior welterweight title bout that will broadcast live on HBO (7:45 p.m.). The hometown hero, a two-time Skyview High School wrestling champion straight out of Thornton, is an intimidating warrior. If you've seen him fight, he's an absolute beast. We wondered what music gets Mike hyped when he's training, and so we asked and he told us what's on his playlist. "Music is my motivator," he says, echoing a common sentiment among other athletes. "It helps me motivate myself, helps me get started, helps me get going."

So which tunes, exactly, get Mike hyped? "Hip-hop and R&B is mostly what I'm into," says Alvarado, who lists a range of rappers, from Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy and Drake, to 2PAC, Biggie and Tribe Called Quest, to Bun B, Kanye and Common, among his faves. "I'm listening to a lot of T.I., a lot of T.I. radio -- I'm mostly on Pandora -- 2Chainz, Young Jeezy, all that. I listen to all them cats, Lil Wayne, 2Pac, for sure, always. It's all I listen to when I'm in the gym. Any anthem type music that has good anthem type beats, like, you know, 'Started from the bottom, now we're here.' All that hardcore rap, man. I'm more into gangster music. Anything like that, I'm good. I'm cool with it."

When asked to pinpoint one song right now that gets him the most hyped, Mike says, "I like 'All Me' by Drake. That's all me. The lyrics are pretty deep. I can relate a lot to it, me, where I'm at in my life right now." Listening to the song's hook, you can see why this song might be resonating with him at this particular moment. As much love and support as he has and gets here locally, at the end of the day, let's not forget, boxing's an individual sport.

Got everything, I got everything
I cannot complain, I cannot
I don't even know how much I really made, I forgot, it's a lot
Fuck that, never mind what I got, nigga don't watch that cause I
Came up, that's all me, stay true, that's all me
No help, that's all me, all me for real
Came up, that's all me, stay true, that's all me
No help, that's all me, all me for real
