For the past 25 years, Fiddler's Green Amphitheatre in Englewood has been owned by the Museum of Outdoor Arts and operated under a single lease, most recently controlled by Live Nation. Last year, that lease expired, and AEG Live signed on to operate the venue for the next fifteen years.

Check back in this space soon for much more detail on the transition and what it will mean for music fans in Denver, but the most obvious change will be to the space itself. MOA and AEG are spending $6 million to renovate the 32-year-old amphitheatre. That work will continue throughout the full summer concert season, but the biggest structural changes are already in place. The first show at the overhauled venue will be Volunteer Jam next Saturday, May 24, featuring the Charlie Daniels Band, the Outlaws, BlackHawk and Craig Campbell. 14,000 tickets for it were given away to fire and police departments, active military, National guard and other public servants. Tickets are on sale to the general public.

Late last week, photographer Brandon Marshall toured the facility with AEG Live Rocky Mountain CEO Chuck Morris and General Manager Rob Thomas (the latter will also be Fiddler's Green's building manager). Obviously the construction process is ongoing -- it looks different there today and will again next week.

The concession stands have been completely rebuilt. Again, this was what one of them looked like last week.

1st Bank Center is another place that unless I absolutely want to so the band (Radiohead's and New Order's shows there come to mind) I will not go.

"Hitler's Green" is more like it ... this place sucks and unless it is some band or show I have to see there is no way I go to it.

I think they did a $6 million line of coke. Why not fix the super steep grass area, where if the grass is even slightly wet, you slide to the bottom? Idiots.

Worst concert venue in Colorado, period.  But thanks for the new concession stands. At least you can wring out another nickel from the crowd, even though the venue is absolute garbage.

Second worst venue. First place for worst concert venue is held by The Pepsi Center. I've seen several concerts at Fiddlers since 1989 and the sound it terrible, the drinks are way over priced, and the parking is ridiculous. It has to be a must see band regardless of the worthless venue for me to pay $75 + to go and still be disappointed. Sadly, I occasionally do it. Fiddlers = disappointment.

It looks exactly the same. Beer prices will probably go from $12 to $14. Thanks!

Are they gonna make the grass area better especially for when rain gets it all mushy and the grass slides off?

Cool, now we can get raped even more on food/beverages.... also they should have spent that 6mil demolishing that shit hole! Hate fiddlers!

They can pour all the money in the world into it and it will always be a horrible terrible venue. You can never change the fact that's it's smack dab in the middle of a corporate office park, surrounded by congestion and traffic, and the sharp 10:30pm curfew is the icing on the crap cake.

Hopefully they do some major work to the sound system

The name 'Fiddlers Green' is the only thing good about this place! Glad I don't have to go there this summer!!!

An outdoor, grassy venue where you're not even allowed to bring food or have a picnic.

The only thing worse than the venue itself is the attitude of the staff.  I have never felt so ill-treated and unwelcome anywhere else in my life.  They treat their customers like potential criminals more than paying guests.

Worst concert venue ever. And what really changed? Looks the same. Add more seats so you can over sell the venue some more? Terrible venue I don't care how much you spend on it

Nikki Steinke

And they over sell every single show that plays there. Sitting in the grass is a nightmare because you can't get to the bathrooms and you just barely move around on the sidewalk. Fiddlers Green blows for concerts

Sorry, never going back, no matter who they book!
