Alert, one of the masterminds behind the Whomp Truck and the creator of the eeriest dubstep this town has ever seen, has a new track out on his Oblivion Fringe label, plus a cut from Peanut Butter Gaucho. "Hypno Ties" is classic Alert, with deep (and slightly menacing) basslines growling like some creature from outer space. And "Brass Gaucho" contains some very Twilight Zone-esque piano lines with bass that's not messin' around. Page down to stream/download the tracks.

Kid Hum (aka Dylan Avery) has been keeping a low profile these days, lurking in the shadows and only showing his face periodically to gift the masses with new music. At the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve, he dropped The Beet Tape, and the new joint comes hot on the heels of his other project, the exceptional instrumental album, Love to Give, which dropped last month. A track from Love to Give has been given the motion-picture treatment by Konsequence (Jeremy Pape). Page down to sample both records and watch the new video.

S.L.U.T. lives up to its moniker on "Easy, Nice and Sleazy," the outfit's debut track

Remember back in August when we told you about the new band that Bobby Smith, Bob Rupp, Chris Cheiffo and Jeff Black formed called Sleazy, Loud, Ultra-Trashy -- S.L.U.T. for short? Well, let's just say suspicions confirmed. The outfit's moniker is also a fairly apt description of the collective noise the furious foursome have conjured up. If the ge-ups in the above picture don't give enough indication, S.L.U.T. is drawing from influences pooled in a retro glam-rock gutter. Velvet Revolver pull your trigger? You'll eat this shit up. Page down to have a listen of a rough demo, and then catch the dudes on New Year's Eve at the Lion's Lair, with the Other Russia.

Shortly after that gig, the band was slated to head up to the Blasting Room to record some of the new material they'd been working on. Well, the first fruits of their labor are finally here in the form of a brand new tune called "Still Time."

Update (12/15/11): My Body Sings Electric named as one of this year's top three finalists in KTCL's Hometown for the Holidays promotion.

1205_mbse.jpg
My Body Sings Electric is one of the recent local Kickstarter success stories. Granted, the act's initiative wasn't quite as successful as, say, Five Iron Frenzy's recent campaign, which has raised a staggering $161K and counting, but My Body Sings Electric successfully funded its project. And the band used the money raised to record a new song up at the Blasting Room with Andrew Berlin and Jason Livermore. In advance of its official release tomorrow, My Body Sings Electric hooked us up with the track, "Doctor," which the dudes also submitted to KTCL for its annual Hometown for the Holidays promo. Have a listen below.

The Occupy Wall Street movement has been inspiring almost everyone to speak up and speak out, whether in favor of the abstract movement or against it. Local hip-hop artists have gotten together to release a series of three tracks in support of the movement. Activist and MC Molina kicked off things with a track called "Stacks of Bills." Molina has been using his voice to speak out on the revolution for quite some time, and as usual, his observations are right on the money.

Necropolis Alert/Goreteks EP released today

Necropolis 500.jpg
We know and love Alert as one of the premiere dubstep producers in Denver; his eerie, horror-film-inspired sound is dubstep at its finest. But we also love it when he breaks into drum-and-bass to mix things up, which is what he does on Necropolis, an EP on the Oblivion Fringe label that also features tracks and remixes from Goreteks (aka DJs Baloo and Strode). And we're offering four tracks for download so you can hear for yourself what dark, dirty drum-and-bass should sound like.

Alphabets drop DDR, the noisiest tribute to Dance Dance Revolution we've ever heard

Categories: Freeloader

Of all of Alphabets' considerable number of releases this year (there have been at least nine), DDR is certainly one of the most unique. What you'll get here is a mash-up of a lot of genres, each being pushed through the Alphabets grinder and coming out on the other end sounding like something completely new.
