Denver fans explain why De La Soul still matters

De La Soul, the iconic Long Island hip-hop trio, performed last Saturday to a capacity crowd at Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom. It was "nuts-to-butts crowded," as my Tennessee friends like to say. Consider now the fact that the group hasn't released a proper album in five years (2009's obscure Are You In?: Nike+ Original Run), and that 3 Feet High and Rising is now 25 years old, and the very idea that they can still pack venues like Cervantes' makes De La's staying power all the more impressive.

This had us wondering: what makes De La still such a big draw, at a time when their contemporaries have long since disappeared? We decided to take the question to the crowd at last weekend's show. Here's what we found.

Got $30K? Own a pair of Beats Pro headphones gifted to the Denver Broncos at the Super Bowl

022014_beats3-001.JPG

Somebody has listed a pair of Beats Pro headphones on eBay that is allegedly one of the pairs that was gifted to the Denver Broncos during Super Bowl week. According to the listing, only 108 were manufactured, and 54 were given to each team. The headphones are diamond gemmed, according to the seller -- who claims to have been entrusted with selling the item by an unnamed Denver Broncos player -- and inscribed with the words "New York XLVIII 2014." The asking price? A cool $30K. If you happen to have that much laying around (we barely have $30, much less $30,000), the player may autograph the headphones if you purchase them. Continue on for pics of the Super Bowl Beats headphones.

After suffering marijuana-induced psychosis, the Mad Fanatic got high on the Denver Broncos

Meet Andrew Young, aka the Mad Fanatic, Denver Broncos superfan.

Andrew Young loves the Denver Broncos. A lot. No, seriously, he's a fanatic. Literally. Broncos football is what this guy lives for. He says it saved his life and gave him purpose. After being hospitalized for marijuana-induced psychosis, his life lost much of its color, but orange and blue never faded. Now, you've heard sports songs, and you've seen superfans, but Young, better known as the Mad Fanatic, occupies both of these spaces like no one you've ever seen before.

DJ Rufio gets his guerrilla groove on at Red Rocks

Categories: Fandemonium

The parking lot is a perfect place to mingle and get your pre-game on before a show, particularly at Red Rocks. But Brandon Chavez is taking tailgaiting to another level. At select EDM shows, you can find Chavez, aka DJ Rufio, and his crew of party people gathered around a red truck in the lower south lot getting down.

"I just thought it would be cool to come out early and get a nice little party going before going into the show," says Chavez. "So I made sure to be one of the first people at the lot. I was one of the first people parked in the lot and just brought my turntables and a speaker."

The fashionistas of Ultra Music Festival 2013

031813_pikachu-001.JPG

This past weekend at Ultra Music Festival in Miami, there were some folks that were better dressed, and others more sensibly garbed, but the following fashionistas spotted during night one of this year's three-day shit fest were the ones that stood out to us the most. These bass junkies in tutus, dead starfish, Pokémon body suits and Halloween costumes offered words of fashion advice and reflection.

ultra music festival 15 molly casa.jpg

Damn, Ultra Music Festival is a mad house. Everywhere you look, it's neon titties, the bottom half of asses or some kind of sexy rabbit hoppin' around with a lollipop in her cheek. Only a special kind of woman can brave the downtown Miami masses for three days, and maybe even six. It takes guts, chutzpah, but not a whole lot of clothing. Here are some of the ladies spotted at this year's Ultra Music Festival in Miami.
