We're a world away from Burning Man Festival in Black Rock City, which took place this past weekend in Nevada's Black Rock Desert, but that doesn't mean we can't get a taste of what we missed. The chief criticism of electronic dance music and its massive rise to prominence is that there just isn't much going on behind the tables. Detractors contend that the DJs and producers that command capacity crowds these days bring little more to the party than a bunch of bells and whistles -- or LEDs and lasers, as the case may be. There's more to it than just twisting knobs and tweaking samples; they must also know how to move. We've compiled the signature dance moves of some of the biggest names in EDM that have come through this past year, from Skrillex and Bassnectar to Kaskade and Pretty Lights. Everybody knows Red Rocks is the best concert venue in the world. That's a given. Now it can also proudly stake claim to the distinction of having the coolest concert security guard, too. So you think you can dance, eh? Pshaw! You obviously haven't been to Red Rocks recently and seen just how hard this guy throws down. Nobody we've seen knows how to pass the time between sets like this guy. Check out his splendid dance moves.

The following is a dispatch from Outside Lands Festival, from our sister paper, SF Weekly.

One thing crowds at San Francisco's Outside Lands festival do pretty well is get down. Despite the relentless wind, heavy fog and numbing temperatures, we saw plenty of good moves last weekend -- and some ridiculously silly enthusiasm from certain crowd members. (It helped that Big Boi stuck to playing his bass-heavy hits.) Here, compiled and edited by Ian S. Port and Andrew Nilsen, are the six funniest moves we saw at Outside Lands -- in GIF form, naturally.

Earlier this week, Rusko lead Red Rocks in an intense, nearly two hour dubstep workout. Bringing the tempo up and down, from 110 bpms and shooting way back up 148 within a split second, it was impossible to stand still. Rusko even warned us of what he was about to do, but did we take warning? Nope. Instead, we took pictures. Here is a close examination of Rusko's workout regimen, which obviously works. Look how trim the dude is!

This past weekend's running of Lollapalooza in Chicago was intense. The heat, the monsoon-like storm on Saturday, and even the lobster corn dogs all exceeded what the human body can take on a regular basis. But it was still a glorious three days for music and social behavior. We were strolling through the Coachella grounds last weekend trying not to trip over passed out people when we encountered this fella. We weren't sure if it was the headdress, the dance moves, or the combination of both, but he coaxed us into sticking around and watching him. Just as we were starting to feel intrusive for "secretly" filming his entire routine, he winked and said, "You got that all on camera, right? Right on!" The full video of him doing his thing is below (trust us: it's worth it), along with a bunch more awkwards from Coachella.
