Slayer top seller at Wax Trax

Slayer's eleventh studio album, World Painted in Blood, released last week on American recordings grabbed the top at Wax Trax for the week ending November 8. Themselves came in second with CrownsDown while the all-star metal band Shrinebuilder grabbed the third spot with its self-titled debut. Jason Molina of Magnolia Electric Co. and Will Johnson of Centro-Matic and South San Gabriel came in fourth with their new collaboration, Molina & Johnson, released last week on Secretly Canadian. Tech N9NE top seller at Independent Records

Tech N9NE's K.O.D., released last week on Strange Music, nabbed the top spot on Independent Records' charts for the week ending November 1. Michael Jackson's soundtrack to the film This is It and Jay-Z's The Blueprint 3 came in at second and third, while Swollen Member's Armed to the Teeth and Z-Ro's Cocaine rounded out the top five. Local Shakedown Vol. 3 top seller at Wax Trax

Radio 1190's The Local Shakedown, Vol. 3, a two-CD collection of 41 Colorado bands released last week, topped the charts at Wax Trax, for the week ending October 18. Coming in second was Run Rabbit Run, in which New York-based string quartet Osso reinterprets Sufan Stevens' 2001 album Enjoy Your Rabbit. The Flaming Lips grabbed the third spot with Embryronic, Nick Cave & Warren Ellis' White Lunar, a collection of the duo's film music, came in fourth, while Karen O's soundtrack to the Where the Wild Things Are rounded out the top five. Tegan and Sara, 30 Seconds to Mars, Everclear shows announced

Canadian twin sisters Tegan & Sara hit the road the last week in October in support of their sixth studio album, Sainthood, which drops on Tuesday, October 27. After European and Canadian dates, the sisters are slated to swing by the Ogden Theatre next year on Sunday, April 4. General admission tickets are $35.25. In the meantime, 30 Seconds to Mars, which features brothers Jared and Shannon Leto, hits the Odgen on Tuesday, December 1, a week before the act's forthcoming album, This is War, hits stores. General admission seats are $25. Finally, Everclear, who just released an album of newly recorded versions of it hits and two new songs, come to the Bluebird Theater on Monday, November 16. Tickets for that one are $23.25 in advance and $26 day of show.
