New Fingers of the Sun video is absolutely the most adorable thing in the history of ever

Fingers of the Sun kick summer into full gear with its video for "The Leaves Were So Green," directed by Zorab Ovsepyan and released this week, a song that sounds like a sunrise looks. Taken from its self-titled album released earlier this year, the song is a summer jam with a hook that's hard to let pass through your head.

3OH!3's "Robot" is like when the Beastie Boys made "Intergalactic," only it's not nearly as good

Robot3oh3.png
Yup, that's a robot.
3OH!3 released a video for "Robot, " the first single from its yet-to-be-released studio album late last week, and its alright. There's nothing wrong with it, really, but there is also nothing stunning happening in this visual tale of a day in the life of a robot dude (though the song itself is about an emotionless woman) who gets wild in the street, at the mall and in the club. It just kind of looks like a commercial.

A first look at "The Deadliest Game," the lead video from Sole's Mansbestfriend Volume 5

Categories: Moving Pictures

Sole has been very hard to ignore recently. He's been releasing tons of content in a variety of formats for free or cheap as he's preparing for his next album in the Mansbestfriend series (due May 15), as well as a new release from Sole and the Skyrider Band (Hello Cruel World due July 19). His latest video is enough out of Sole's usual territory we figured it's worth a look.

Sole expands his "rap as journalism" with two new videos

Categories: Moving Pictures

When we last checked in with Sole (aka Tim Holland) a couple months back, he was just starting to explore the notion of "rap as journalism," in which he turned pre-existing songs and beats into political statements, quickly and without a lot of investment. He's since gone on to do a few of these, including two new videos that dropped in the last week.

Before pressing play, you have to commit to watching it at least twice.

Girls! Girls! Girls! A first look at Rockie's "Cover Girl" featuring Adam Duncan

Categories: Moving Pictures

Rockie and Adam Duncan premiered a new video this week, and as the name implies, "Cover Girl," directed by Vital Films out of Aspen, features pretty girls. Lots and lots of them. The only guys in this moving picture, in fact, appear to be Rockie and Duncan, and that seems to be just fine by them.

Freestyles Are still free -- or freeze, as the case may be. Ask Turner Jackson and Joe Thunder.

So this little gem showed up on our doorstep this morning -- or, rather, in our parking lot last night. We've been hearing about Turner Jackson's whole Freestyles Are Still Free project that he's been working on, in which he traipsed around town last summer wearing a sandwich board and rapping off the top of his head for anybody and everybody.

360-degree music video from Craig Wedren blows that Black Eyed Peas app out of the water

Categories: Moving Pictures

Just a few weeks ago we talked about the Black Eyed Peas' 360 degree music video, and subsequently, how disappointing it was, being that it was being presented by Black Eyed Peas and all. Thankfully, ex-Shudder to Think vocalist Craig Wedren went ahead and took the bulk of their idea and did it better.

Jesus says if you twist your face like that, it will stay that way.
Not too long ago, National Public Radio ran a piece on the art of "Human Videos" -- a phenomenon that entails Christian teenagers competing in groups to do their best physical translations of contemporary religious music. "It's like a music video with only people as a set," explains the only half-skeptical sounding NPR correspondent Zoe Chace. So inspired by viewing all of this virtual proselytizing, we've collected five of our personal favorite human videos, for your viewing pleasure.

Woodsman release video for "Serfer," which will make you trip balls, slowly

Categories: Moving Pictures

Woodsman-325.jpg
Woodsman offered up a new video for "Serfer" today, a song from the latest album, Rare Forms, released last month on it's own label, Fire Talk. The almost four-minute clip feels kind of like a interstellar trip to the optometrist -- glowing lights sharpen and blur as they travel through space, changing color and size along the way. It is a good visual companion for the band's mid-tempo but heavy layers of kickdrum, bass and trickling guitars. The lo-fi jammers will be celebrating Rare Forms' release into the world next Friday, February 11 with Vitamins and Milton Melvin Croissant III at the Larimer Lounge. Wake up dude, the video's over.
