Seafood, Eat It

The owners of Prime 121 at 121 Clayton Lane, a spot formerly (and briefly) occupied by Bob’s Steak and Chop House, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization last month. When I reviewed it last fall, I was impressed by the service, not so much by the steak and trimmings. Now the owners are trimming costs by shutting down for lunch, dropping the free valet parking and enacting other austerity measures -- like selling their lobsters by the ounce. At five dollars per ounce, meaning that a one-pound Aussie is currently going for eighty bucks.

But for ten bucks less than that, a smart fella could just head down to Cherry Crest Seafood at 5909 South University Avenue in Littleton and pick up two pound-and-a-quarter Maine lobsters (shown above, and better by a long stretch than anything out of Australia), some fish or shrimp, a bunch of clams, some corn on the cob, new potatoes and a bucket to cook it all in.

Austerity measures indeed…-- Jason Sheehan
