Lights Out for Moon Time

For weeks now, we've been following the action -- or lack thereof -- at Moon Time, Westword's nearby watering hole at 846 Broadway. When we stopped by almost three weeks ago, the joint was reportedly closed for HVAC work, and on August 2, a new sign on the door said that Moon Time would be closed that Saturday for more work, then reopening on a limited schedule Wednesday through Saturday.

But last night, the place wasn't open and today, we found workers unplugging the electric signs and putting up a banner that says that the space is for sale.

To potential buyers, let me assure you that a good bar has a built-in base with Westword so close.

And to the folks who just pulled the plug, we'll miss you, Moon Time. -- Patricia Calhoun

That place sucked anyway. It was like a Ruby Tuesday's without the character, their music was always some horrible mix of String Cheese and Leftover Tuna, and their food wasn't much better. Westword: open a tab at The Bannock Street Garage, Charlie Brown's, Dazzle or even Pint's Pub and raise a glass to your new, and better, drinking digs.

This was a wonderful neighborhood bar! I was a regular when it was the Minturn and then became the Moontime. Although, it wasn't my neighborhod it has been a great place to go too. I will agree with the putz above that the music was sometimes stringy but the food was GREAT! I will miss the staff....
To potential buyers: you will have a great following if you have the NFL/NHL ticket.

It will take months to get the hippy smell out of that place. The upstairs patio was nice.
