Should we eat at Lala, Lola, Lele or Lulu?

Poor Lala's. If the history of the space at 410 East Seventh Avenue wasn't enough to contend with, the new upscale pizzeria and wine bar also has to battle phonetics.

I can hear the conversation now.

"Hon, tonight should we eat at Lala's?"

"How about Lola?"

"Actually I kind of feel like Lulu's."

"Boulder's too far. Do you mean Lele?"

"I'm confused."

I swung by Lala's last night as the owners (who also run the nearby Govnr's Park Tavern) were conducting a dry run on their new venture for friends and family. Abbott and Costello were nowhere in sight -- but by the look of the crowd, Lala is off to a good start for its official opening later this week. Just remember, folks: enunciate! -- Jared Jacang Maher
