Barron's gets the boot
When Brix opened at 3000 East Third Avenue a few years ago, it gave Cherry Creek an unexpected, hip hot spot. But then the partners behind Brix split (read more about it in this week's Bite Me), and earlier this year the space became Barron’s Bar & Bistro.
But Barron's didn't last long. By last Friday, the doors were locked and decorated with tax-seizure paperwork from the Colorado Department of Revenue, noting that the business owed close to $3,000 in back taxes.
While Barron’s had neither opened strong or made much of a name for itself during its brief turn upon Denver’s stage, it still seems rather shocking that the owners would let their bar go for a $3,000 tab. Then again, the state is one of the few creditors with the power to shut down a bar. No telling who else Barron's left holding the bag. -- Jason Sheehan
