Good cause, good meals

Thanksgiving is a time for celebration, and some people party by helping others. Westword will run a list of places offering meals for the needy on our Café Society blog. If you know of others, leave a comment below or send us an email.

Bar Louie Restaurants is partnering with shelters around town to provide a meal for those in need. A full meal is being served from 11am-3pm on Thursday. Visit www.barlouieamerica.com for more information and a list of locations.

The Estes Park Community Thanksgiving is a free meal hosted by the family that once owned Notchtop Bakery and Cafe. It takes place from 11:30 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Mountain View Bible Fellowship Church at Colorado 7 and Peakview Drive. Call 970-586-2689 for more info.

The Old Blinking Light (OBL) in Highlands Ranch is cooking for a cause with its "Everything But the Turkey" event that benefits the Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado. This is going on throughout November and involves the OBL donating 10 percent of its to-go purchases to the foundation. The sides all have a Southwestern flair, and the complete menu is available at www.oldblinkinglight.com or by calling 303-346-9797.

Rosa Linda's Mexican Café, 2005 West 33rd Avenue, is providing a free Thanksgiving meal to the needy. They have been doing this for 24 years and have made more than 25,000 meals. Volunteers are always needed, and if you know someone who could use a hand on this Thanksgiving, call 303-455-0608 or email the owners at rosalindasmexicancafe@gmail.com. -- Tyler Nemkov
