What's cooking at the White House? Maybe Denver chef Daniel Young

Categories: The Dish

The New York Daily News is reporting that three chefs are in the running for the new White House chef job: Art Smith, personal chef to Oprah Winfrey and owner of Chicago's Table Fifty-Two; Rick Bayless, owner of Rick Bayless Topolobampo and Frontera Grill, two restaurants in Chicago; and Daniel Young.

Yes, Daniel Young of Denver, who cooked for Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention and is currently "personal chef to Denver Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony," according to the Daily News. Before that, he was the cook at the Denver Press Club, where Jason Sheehan first tasted his food (read about that here), where he went after the blizzard of March 2003 closed down Fat Daddy. But Young originally made his bones at Diced Onions, which occupied the space that's now home to Table 6.
