The hard sell for French 250

According to the French 250 auction listing reported here yesterday, the space at 250 Steele Street is being stripped down to the wall-bolts -- so, bad news, it looks like we're never going to see the French Underground concept that I once thought might revive the space.

But there's good news for chefs and owners looking for some cheap gear. All they need to do is wake up early on January 5 and bring cash to the auction house. Not for nothing, but they're letting go a double-oven, ten top Vulcan and a two-burner Wolf mini (among other things), and my guess is that they'll go both fast and cheap.-- Jason Sheehan
