Ca-toff-strophe for Enstrom's

AlmondToffeePkg.jpgAfter my recent blog about fast-casual chains in Colorado, someone posted an odd comment that didn't really pertain to what I had written about. The gist of it was that Enstrom's candy company had produced mass batches of faulty candy unbeknownst to her friend, who'd shipped ten boxes as presents, all of which had the problem of the chocolate coating separating from the toffee. After reading this post, I e-mailed Enstrom's and promptly received a call from owner Doug Simons.

Simons said that there had been a major malfunction with their production process -- the toffee had been too smooth, so smooth the chocolate coating couldn't adhere-- but that Enstrom's had no choice but to move forward with faulty product. The problem was a massive blow during the holiday rush, their busiest time of the year.

Contrary to the comment posted after my blog, Simons said Enstrom's had been doing its  best to either replace the faulty product or reimburse people who'd bought it. His prompt, sincere response make me think that Enstrom's will weather this storm.

The company has also returned to their old recipe, which Joel Warner recently reported resulted in possibly the 'Best Candy in the World'
