The Rib House is moving to Boulder

Since Kevin Taylor's Prima in Boulder closed in late 2007, its spot at One Boulder Plaza has housed only a "For Lease" sign. But now Tracy Webb, chef/owner of The Rib House, at 1920 South Coffman Street in Longmont, will turn this location into his second Rib House.

Webb is from Kansas City and has been doing KC barbecue -- characterized by a sweeter, thicker sauce, among other things -- in Longmont for almost ten years. And he had a very holistic reason for choosing his Boulder address.

"The building may have been built about five years ago, and other restaurants were there," he says, "but they just didn't know they were building us a ribhouse...it was just supposed to be." As Webb explains his concept, "It's not a sports bar, but we will have three flat-screen HDTVs. It will be a family place, open from 11 to 10 Sunday through Thursday and 11 to 11 Friday and Saturday."

Even in a town plain stuffed with restaurants, Boulder has a shortage of good barbecue. So I'm hopeful that when the Rib House opens in April, it will meet this town's meaty needs.
