For ladies only -- a Venue wine-tasting tonight

• Dear, sad, lonely Mr. Horner. You sound, and I don�t think I�m alone here, like a big fucking wanker. Oh but wait, you can�t technically be a big �fucking� wanker when your many ($500 in $5 covers charges) pathetically failed attempts to meet drunk chicks at ladies nights the world over have sent you crashing down in flames. Never the less a plain, old, balding, and sadly unimaginative wanker you are indeed. I imagine this is the motive for your desperate need to make other peoples fun the big, fat thorn in your pasty, flabby, un-fondled (in a verrry long time I imagine) side. But alas it seems that the simple truth prevails and that is that it doesn�t matter how many free drinks a girl has in her because those darn cosmo goggles still register you as one ugly fuck. Poo poo on you for bashing the gay community because Denver has some pretty sweet gay bars and, although its not technically ladies night, a pissy little bitch like you might just fit right in! In the meantime, maybe a little practice with a blowup doll could be beneficial but be warned she going to cost you more than $5. Maybe your hand is a better option for now, oh wait, then who would you press charges against�

• Alright enough already, let's get down to what counts here: great food and wine. Wow did we have some fun last night at the "Best American Wines you've never heard of" dinner at Venue. Holly and her staff matched outrageous little dishes with the wine. Rabbit ravioli with a buttered carrot puree, hedgehog and oyster mushroom ragout with a house made gnocchi...my fave was potato "faux"coccia with a succulent little beef short rib. The 2 most popular wines were the Chime Chardonnay and the Velvet Devil Merlot. I know I know, chardonnay and merlot, zzzzzzz...but just try these and you'll see what I mean. Venue is a gem!

• Dear Mr. Horner, Who the hell do you think you are? I cannot believe the things you have written! You are ignorant, intolerant, and ill mannered; by definition a total fucking bigot! What makes you think that you have the right to even have an opinion concerning these things, let alone call people fagots? Are you bitter because you couldn�t hack it in a marriage? • Steve! First, it is I, and not Venue who organizes the "Ladies only" tastings. Venue is just our venue; BTW, they are closed on Tuesdays and this is a private party--i think private parties are legal AND patriotic--says so right there in the First Amendment! Furthermore, whomever wants to, may attend--even though that's not the spirit. (kinda like a ladies-only locker room--get it?) Same pricing applies to non-ladies or even wanna-be ladies, or for that matter ladies dressed as men. I really don't care. either way, it's 40 bucks, and we have a great time. And Steve, leave Venue out of this. They are a new business owned by one of the most dedicated and hard working people in the business (also a lady).
