The Recovery Room has recovered!

The flatlined Recovery Room
When the state seized the Recovery Room (819 Colorado Boulevard) for nonpayment of taxes last January, it was a temporary flatline for the legendary dive. But Chris Campbell and Mark Lane, who have owned the Old Towne Tavern (2410 West Main Street, Littleton) for the past four years, stepped in to revive the Recovery Room, which reopens this Friday.

Campbell says the previous owner, who ran the spot for nearly three years, was a bit shady and basically disappeared; he promises that he and Lane will run a clean place and keep out the riff-raff.

Since taking over the property last month, they've spruced the place up with a new coat of paint, installed new beer taps, and brought in new bar stools and flatscreen TVs.

And they've made another change: They're offering food. Although Campbell says the kitchen is the size of a closet, the Recovery Room will serve hot dogs, Italian sausage and other items from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. They'll also have happy hours with a dollar off most drinks from 2 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, as well nightly specials that run from 9 p.m. to close.

The recovered Recovery Room will open its doors at 5 p.m. on May 8, and stay open from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. over the weekend. On Monday, it will introduce its regular hours: 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. every day. The new phone number: 303-248-7207.
