Falling Rock Taphouse makes it a dozen

• The 12th Anniversary of Falling Rock Tap House in Denver, Colorado was an amazing and successful jubilee. The Tap House, which opened its doors at 1919 Blake Street in Denver�s historic lower downtown (LoDo) in 1997, has over 69 beers on tap and even more beers in bottles. All the beer on tap is craft brewed, which means there are no contract brews or megaswill. Coupled with the beer selection and an extensive food menu, pool tables, dartboards and comfortable atmosphere, the Tap House thrives nestled in the oldest and original settlement of the city of Denver, a prime example of urban reinvestment and revitalization. The celebration included 160 pounds of free barbeque ranging from pulled pork to brisket to potato salad to baked beans to barbeque sauce to rolls as well as five extraordinary beers from Elysian Brewing in Seattle, Washington. It�s been really a lot of fun.� Elysian Brewing, which has three brew pubs in Seattle, provided five special beers for the party: Immortal IPA- refreshingly hoppy, Immortal IPA is brewed with Pale, Munich, Crystal and Cara-hell malts and bittered with Chinook, finished with Amarillo and Centennial hops. Avatar Jasmine IPA- somewhat sturdy and refreshing, this IPA is florally fragrant and slightly sweet with hops to balance. Loser Pale Ale- a strong, hoppy pale ale that uses Japanese Sorachi Ace hops. The Sorachi hops have a lemony aroma and flavor that�s different from the usual grapefruit or pine character of American hops. The super special beer for the evening was a five-gallon keg of the Double Avatar Jasmine IPA Brew 2000, the 2000th batch from Elysian�s Capitol Hill Pub (1221 E. Pike St., Seattle WA 98122), a 10% abv version of Avatar Jasmine IPA, one of the most famous brews from Elysian. Another five-gallon keg was Trip II, a collaborative effort with Elysian and New Belgium Brewing(Ft. Collins, CO). Trip II is a deep, golden ale generously hopped with Magnum and the seldom-used Citra hop, which produces flavors of grapefruit, peach and passion fruit. The ale is spiced with lemongrass and grains of paradise, fermented with a Belgian yeast strain for a hop-forward ale and swirling fruit undertones. Elysian beers are just now available in the Colorado market. Patron Debbie Medina came out for the festivities, �I�m here to party for the 12th Anniversary of Falling Rock. I�m not sure what I am drinking because there are so many decisions.� Cheers to many more triumphant years!
