It's gearing up to be a big food and wine weekend, kids.
On Saturday, Ace Hardware, Alameda Station, 417 South Broadway, is holding its first-ever "Big Green Egg" grilling competition, a smoking and grilling face-off between students from the Art Institute of Colorado and other participating hopefuls, all of whom will fire and smoke their food on a Big Green Egg ceramic grill for a chance to win $300 in Ace Hardware gift cards. Even if you're not a contender, you can stop by for discounted pricing on products and accessories, and to sample what's cooking.
Open since 1934, Bonnie Brae Tavern, the old-time pizzeria at 740 South University Boulevard, celebrates 75 years of flipping pies with an all-day party on Sunday, June 7. To commemorate the major milestone, beers will start at just 75 cents, and spaghetti at $1.75.
