Blue Moon rockets to the White House

Perfect for soothing racial tension.
The White House could get a little taste of Denver this week if President Barack Obama is able to pull off a meeting over beers Thursday between Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates and Cambridge, Massachusetts police sergeant James Crowley, who arrested Gates on July 16 at his own home.

While Obama will have a Bud, as he has done before, Gates has reportedly chosen a Red Stripe or a Beck's. Crowley has requested Blue Moon, the now ubiquitous Coors product first invented inside Coors Field at the Blue Moon Brewery @ the Sandlot.

And Sandlot brewerTom Hail, who helped create Blue Moon fifteen or so years ago, says he's all about "beer diplomacy," as it's being called -- even if he hadn't heard about the pow-wow or Blue Moon's role when we contacted him earlier this week. "Don't give me any credit for that," he laughs.
