This weekend: Raise a pint to the Greater Boulder Beer Festival

It's not quite on the same tap as the Great American Beer Festival, which flows down on Denver on September 24 at the Colorado Convention Center, but the toddler-aged Greater Boulder Beer Festival, which turns two this year, isn't exactly a slacker when it comes to suds.

Sure, it's small in stature, and true, you can't sample eight billion beers, but when the festival comes down this Sunday, August 2, at the Millennium Harvest House hotel in Boulder (1345 28th Street), several of Boulder County's best breweries -- Left Hand Brewery, Draft House, Twisted Pine, Oskar Blues, BJ's, Upslope, Boulder Beer and Walnut Brewery -- will be pouring their award-winning suds.

The party kicks off at 1 and continues until 5 p.m. with brew-friendly food samplings from exec chef Dedric McGhee and live music from the Clam Daddys, a Westminster-based blues band.

Tickets, available at the door only, are $20 per person, and if you're one of the first 400 revelers to buy a ticket, you'll get a commemorative glass to mark the occasion. Best of luck remembering where that glass came from the next morning,
