See that picture above? Yeah, that's exactly what you think it is: a toaster with a pre-determined Pop Tart setting. And that is just about the coolest thing in the world.
Or in the world of toasters, at least.
The toaster pictured is the one that came with my room in Beaver Creek -- a virtual wonderland of things cooler and more functionally solid than the things I have at home. At home, I have two toasters (because I am an old short-order cook and having only one toaster around makes me nervous). One of them has only two settings: Uncooked and Mysterious House Fire. And the other (which, no lie, was a promotional toaster that I got for buying a certain brand of granola) will only toast bagels, for reasons that have never been clear to me.
But now that I know there is a Pop Tart-specific toaster out there in the world, I must have one of my own. Because regardless of how my fellow scribblers here at Cafe Society might feel about the humble breakfast pastry, I do dearly love me some Pop Tarty goodness now and again. Even if, because of my home toaster situation, I generally have to eat them cold.
