Get your 2010 calendars now (and some green chile, too)
No, you know the end of the year is near because as you exit your favorite Mexican restaurant -- El Tejado, Rosa Linda's Mexican Cafe, Mexico City Lounge -- you get a calendar, usually one with some illustration of a bare-breasted conquistator with a lovely senorita.
But this year, Mexico City has gone with a portrait of the restaurant 2115 Larimer Street itself. Like the neighborhood around it -- which now boasts Marco's Coal Fired Pizzeria a few doors away, Twelve up the block, the Ginn Mill and Scruffy Murphy's down the block -- Mexico City has been spruced up lately.
Some old traditions remain, though. The hot green chile, for example, which is sweat-inducing this season.
And the Christmas calendar.
