Alice Waters to write three new books

She is the culinary genius behind Chez Panisse in Berkeley. Along with friend and chef Jeremiah Tower, she pioneered California Cuisine and has had a heavy influence in promoting sustainable, locally grown food sources for restaurants. Her Chez Panisse Foundation introduced the Edible Schoolyard, a program that provides funding and materials needed for a one-acre garden on the grounds of Martin Luther King Junior Middle School in Berkeley, and teaches students of all ages about nutrition and the value of fresh fruits and vegetables.

And now Alice Waters will be authoring three new books to add to her collection of tomes about food and cooking.

In 2011, Clarkson Potter, the publisher responsible for the eleven books Waters has already penned, will release Classic Chez Panisse, a fortieth anniversary celebration of the restaurant. Waters has also agreed to write a retrospective memoir, as well as a sequel to 2007's The Art of Simple Food.

Before long, we just might have the California edition of Julie and Julia, replacing a Queens apartment kitchen and beef bourgnigon with a communal garden and striped bass with lemon sauce.
