My final review: Where should I be eating?

• You haven't said a word about Colt and Grey and it's really good - why not try it?

• I don't read this blog much, but would love to read about something in my neighborhood. Marco's, Snooze, Twelve, Buenos Aires, Hi-Rise, and the Lobby.

• It's not a place for a meal, but you would be terribly, terribly remiss if you didn't try the Danish bakery "A Taste of Denmark" in Lakewood, just east of Cafe Jordano on Jewell, across from a church and a lake. The owner is a native of Denmark who makes simply amazing Scandinavian pastries. I say this as a fan, and as the wife of a native Swede who's family ran a Swedish bakery in Stockholm and who is decidely snooty in assessing bakeries. Bring a to-go cup of your favortie coffee, because they don't sell it and you'll want some bitterness to contrast the sweet, and try the cinnamon strip and anything with marzipan. You will not be sorry.

• I mean since Jason has never provided a traditional restaurant review per se why not go to a place where the FOOD DOESN'T MATTER? This is his own philosophy. Better to leave us with an example of his wonderful talent for FOOD WRITING.

• Oh, Casa Bonita for sure! It's right up your alley. BTY everyone ought to read your comments to me on "Mysteries of Sheehan's desk day 11", 8/26/09. A pompous ass or politics as usual? You're too cool for Denver. That's why Casa Bonita is your choice.

• Taqueria Patzcuaro, because you probably won't find Mexican that good in Seattle.

• Chubby's Breakfast Burrito - Original of course So Long J.S. it's been real

• 1) D'Corrazon - great pork chops and marg's 2) Charlie Brown's - Ok food, fun atmosphere. A classic place in my mind. 3) Casa Bonita - A must before you leave and obviously not for the food 4) Szechuan Chinese Resturant (Lakewood) - All around great food. 5) Joseph's Southern Fried Food - Great chicken! 6) Tom's Home Cookin - The most and best food you can get for $10! Just a few suggestions. Sorry to see you leave.

• Whatever you decide, I think it should be within Denver city limits. I know there are many fine establishments in the suburbs and in Boulder, but I always roll my eyes a little when you review Boulder restaurants and think "don't those people have their own newspapers?" Considering the time of year and the fact that it's your last blast, you should go out in style. Some place where you and your closest friends can go and have a real blow-out; great drinks, amazing food that you can pass around and share, more drinks, good desserts. And they should let you smoke inside for a change.

• Barolo Grill. I mentioned it on another post, but I will reiterate it here. I don't know if it is a "Denver legend" as RT says, it may be. But this is the one "fancy" special occasion type restaurant that you haven't reviewed (I think). Good or bad (or indifferent), let us know what you think of the place.

• Olive Garden

• Why not Casa Bonita, standing in line should give you lots of time to write us all one more time, lots of ever-so-dull commentary about your personal life.

• Fruition, Tables, Table 6, Twelve, Venue. All small places with big hearts

• Please do a review of one of those 3-course New Year's Eve dinner specials. The kind that promise an unforgettable meal and usually deliver...for the wrong reasons. I vote for North in Cherry Creek. It'll make you never want to come back.

• WTF is that photo? Domino's Pizza. Definitely.

• The question really is do you want to go out with a classic Sheehan thrashing or a nostalgic reverie of a Denver institution? If it's a thrashing you're looking for, see if the Earl's Girls can weather the storm. If it's an ode to a Denver legend, I would vote for Blair Taylor's Barolo Grill. That Etruscan dynamo introduced Northern Italian to Denver 15 years ago a I think we sometimes forget how groundbreaking it was at the time. Either way, your writing style and attention to detail (even if it's a detail only you care about)will be missed in these pages and in foodie debates around the city. Au Revoir Mr. Sheehan.
