Centro soars into spring with a new menu
Like small plates and Asian fusion, street food has descended on the culinary scene like gangbusters. It'd be like plague or pestilence if it weren't so damned brilliant, and delicious.
Centro Latin Kitchen & Refreshment Palace in Boulder has embraced the trend, and its new spring menu, inspired by popular Latin street foods, is no exception. Here's what's new on exec chef Ian Clark's dinner menu:
Shrimp, asadero, yam and poblano fritter - $7Shellfish coctel, poached shrimp, fried oysters, and cured scallop - $11
Creamy corn soup with lobster, plantain, and cilantro - $5/8
Roasted beets, grilled orange, goat cheese, watercress, and toasted almonds - $10
Baja fish fry with seared greens and hot corn salad, poblano tarter, and spicy vinegar - $18
Charred ahi tuna with piloncillo glazed sweet potatoes and hot cucumber salsa - $22
Zucchini, jicama, and pumpkin soft tacos with achiote rice, and salsa chiltomate - $13/16
Sautéed halibut "Veracruzano" - $23
Lobster, hot pork and green chile nachos - $18
Duck mole crispy tacos with sweet-hot mango salsa, achiote rice and black bean refritos - $14/18
Goat cheese masa cakes with black bean and avocado, watercress, and tomato - $15
Grilled hanger steak with rock shrimp, pepper hash and creamy chipotle sauce - $22
Warm pineapple upside down cake with tamarind crema - $7

Prices are a little upscale to exactly qualify as street food per se, but we're looking forward to checking out Clark's new grub, nonetheless. Menu items launched Sunday, April 4.
