Argyll may put expansion on hold
Argyll was doing so well that Thompson had considered taking on the space next door to the restaurant at 2700 East Third Avenue -- the former Plush nightclub. But now he's wondering whether he should mess with success.
"For the record," he tells us, "the landlord has given me a first right of refusal on the adjacent space but I haven't been able to pull the trigger. Argyll has become such a special restaurant that I am afraid to screw with its feel by expanding.
"Sometimes there are more important things than money, and this is one of them. If I decide to expand next door, it won't be to ring the cash register -- it will be about making Argyll a better version of itself. "
