Short-lived Carmen's Cafe morphs into the Front Porch Cafe
As swiftly and suddenly as Carmen's Cafe opened in April, the coffee shop at 1115 Grant Street in the Grant Street Mansion has now morphed into the Front Porch Cafe. The shop's former namesake, Carmen Sanchez, dropped out (or was dropped, depending on who you talk to) as a result of an unclear dispute over the shop's finances. 
The Front Porch doesn't even have a phone number yet, but that hasn't stopped owner Dodge Meadows from thinking big about what he wants to do with the space and the rest of the mansion grounds.
Meadows has already taken some action, including bringing on local chef-to-the-stars Daniel Young. That's right, the personal chef to Denver Nuggets players Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups and Kenyon Martin is now making gourmet sandwiches for a local coffee shop.
The Front Porch officially debuted last week, featuring local Coda coffee, baked goods from the local Unsinkable Cookie Co., fruit, parfaits and buffalo burgers and grass-fed hot dogs, in addition to Young's creations. An employee says the shop eventually plans to sell food prepared by culinary students who will be trained by Young.
Meadows eventually wants to have a farmer's market on the grounds, a smoothie bar, bike-in movie nights as well as a pulley system to transport food from the mansion's grill area located behind and down from the mansion's beautiful wraparound porch.

Hours aren't entirely ironed out but according to the cafe's Facebook page, the Front Porch Cafe is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays.
