Getting happy on wine, meats and cheese at Il Posto's Ora Felice
The Place: Il Posto, 2011 East Seventeenth Avenue, 303-394-0100.
The Hours: Sunday through Thursday from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
The Deals: Discounted cocktails, half-price wines by the glass, and all tagliere and assaggini courses are half-price.
The Digs: Il Posto is casual enough that you could stroll in from a hike and not feel out of place, but classy enough to satiate your après appetite in style. A simplistic yet modern dining room features an open kitchen and chalkboards boasting daily menu changes. The patio, a little haven for observing the bustle at the next door Thin Man and St. Mark's, is cozy and intimate, and chef Andrea Frizzi often chats with tables; the neighborhood vibe keeps us coming back for more.
The Verdict: Few things give us as much pleasure as kicking it outside on a great patio with a good friend, some good wine and good cheese. The smiling staff is highly knowledgeable when it comes to Italian wine, and they'll guide you through the list without pretense. And we love the daily tagliere ($8) featuring delectable cured meats, breadsticks, and three different types of cheese. If you've had a hard day, try a house Manhattan ($6) and drink your cares (and your brain cells) away.
