Kyle Hollingsworth headlines Snowmass's annual Chili Pepper & Brew Fest.
If you think there's no good reason to fight I-70 traffic to get to a mountain town between June and October, think again: Today marks the start of the annual Snowmass Chili Pepper & Brew Fest.

The International Chili Society holds two competitions and tastings at this festival, while microbreweries face off to see who's created this year's best summer ale, with two sampling sessions. New this year is a European and exotic beer-tasting tent, where you can escape from the sun with some booze. And there are also competitions in home-brewing and chili-cooking for locals.

And that's just the food.

Headlining the music this year are the Kyle Hollingsworth Band (featuring special guest Michael Kang), who plays at 6:30 p.m. tonight, followed by Brett Dennon at 8:30.Tomorrow night, the Wailers play at 5 p.m. before George Clinton & Parliament/Funkadelic take the stage at 7:30 p.m.

Admission to the fest is $20 to $75; for more details, go to http://snowmasschiliandbrew.com.
