Frank Bonanno's new Larimer Square space will peddle pie... and something else

A couple of months back, we saw a tweet from Frank Bonanno asking his Twitter followers whether Denver would rather see doughnuts or pie. Denver must have said pie.

The chef, whose expanding restaurant group includes Mizuna, Bones, Osteria Marco and Luca d'Italia, acquired a lease on a 5,000-square-foot subterranean Larimer Square spot across the street from Osteria Marco, and though his whole plan for the sizable space is not yet clear, part of it will be devoted to pie.

"Apparently, he'll be selling pies on Wednesdays," said Joe Vostrejs, COO of the Larimer Associates, the group that owns the space.

That pie concept, dubbed Wednesday's Pie, will include a counter at which to enjoy a couple of flavors of the dessert, which will be available whole and by the slice. That's slated to open in November.

But 5,000-square-feet is a lot of space, and a pie counter's not going to fill it. The bigger question, then, is what will Bonanno do with the remaining square footage? There's definitely something in the works, but Vostrejs will only say this: "That's a lot of space. There are a lot of things he could do."
