Feed Denver raises $16,000 with Bonterra's Campaign for Urban Farming

Feed Denver, a group that sets up urban farms around the Mile High City and trains neighbors to sustain them, had been chosen to participate in Bonterra's Campaign for Urban Farming, an effort by the organic winemaker to educate communities about the benefits of urban farming while helping local organizations like Feed Denver grow.

Bonterra worked with Growing Power, an organization that focuses on providing communities with healthy food, to set up a fund-matching program for the participating groups, charging them with raising a large pool of funds from a large pool of donors in a short amount of time.

Feed Denver rose to the challenge.

In just a few short weeks, the organization raised over $10,000 from 137 donors. Matching funds from Bonterra took the total to over $12,000. Bonterra also awarded the group an additional $4,000 for raising the second-largest pool of funds from the second-highest number of donors from the participating organizations.

The head of Feed Denver, Lisa Rogers, also notes that the group raised enough money to become a permanent part of the Global Giving website.

That $16,000 will help fund Feed Denver's farm supplies and ongoing education efforts.
