Q Worldly Barbecue and Lounge, the subterranean house of smoked pig, international sauces, corn fritters and live blues bands, shuttered on Sunday after two and half years in Cherry Creek.

"The short version is that the crappy economy and all the summer construction that was going on in Cherry Creek made it very difficult for us," says co-owner Bekah Donovan Pellegrin, who also runs Eco-Burger, directly across the stairwell from Q's. "There wasn't any parking available, which interfered with a lot of things, and we're coming into a slower time of year, and we couldn't wait a whole other year to see if things picked up again."
But Bekah, along with her husband David, still have two more years left on the lease, and while the possibility of reopening with a tweaked concept is remote, Bekas says that there's an outside chance that it could happen. "We still have the space for now, and there's a very small possibility that we may reopen as the Q, but at the moment we're weighing our options, talking to our customers and seeing what makes sense mathematically and financially."
In the meantime, Bekah and David are concentrating on building business at Eco-Burger and potentially duplicating that concept. "We knew when we opened Eco-burger that we might want to build more, so that's something that we're thinking about," she says. But nothing, notes Bekah, has been solidified.
At least, not yet.
