Not feeling the Chinese dumplings this year? Try one of these five restaurants
Whether you don't celebrate Christmas or you'd simply rather abstain from holiday cooking, eating options constrict significantly when you're choosing a place to dine on December 25. Thanks to hotel restaurants that cater to winter vacationers, there are definitely choices beyond moo shu pork and egg rolls, but those places sometimes fill reservation slots months in advance.

So we hunted down five more non-Chinese. non-hotel spots open on Christmas.

Jonesy's EatBar, 400 East 20th Avenue
This neighborhood gastropub specializes in all manner of comfort foods, so when it open ats 4 p.m. on Christmas Day, it'll offer an American classic: the meatloaf dinner. The menu will feature a traditional and a Thai seafood version, though, in addition to the vegetarian rendition the restaurant features on its regular menu.

Opus, 2575 West Main Street, Littleton
Even as Opus owner Michael Long gets ready to open a second restaurant, Aria, 250 Josephine Street, his first restaurant is finding time to showcase a three-course, prix fixe menu on Christmas night, with dishes including foie gras, duck two ways and egg nog creme brulee. The eatery will be open from 3 to 7 p.m.

Parallel 17, 1600 East 17th Avenue
The pan-Asian restaurant on 17th Street will open its doors to Denver diners on December 25 from 2 to 9 p.m. And in addition to its standard run of pho, pork buns and curry, the kitchen will offer a selection of kosher specials. Tables are still available, but reservations are highly recommended.

Blake Street Tavern, 2301 Blake Street
We're betting that once Blake Street Tavern opens at 5 p.m., many of the seats will be occupied by people who just want to get away from their relatives -- in addition to diners who're forgoing the Christmas pudding for a burger and beer. The drinking hall will be serving its regular menu until close.

Baur's Ristorante, 1512 Curtis Street
This restaurant in the theater district will open at 5 p.m., serving a holiday meal will festive touches in its historic dining room and live piano music in the intimate lounge strewn with comfy sofas.
