Primebar seized for not paying sales tax, leaving non-profit Denver Gives high and dry for New Year's Eve Party
We reported yesterday that Primebar, the 300-seat restaurant at 1515 Arapahoe Street, had closed without warning a year and a half after it had opened.

We received no comment from Restaurants America, the company that owns the place as to why the sudden shutter, but the word's out now: The restaurant was seized by the state for failure to pay sales tax.
And that left Denver Gives, a local non-profit, high and dry for its New Year's Eve party tomorrow night at the D& F Clocktower, which Primebar had agreed to cater.
Denver's got a great restaurant community, though, and Kevin White, the executive director of Denver Gives, says he's gotten several calls from eateries who were willing to help fill the gap.
"I know for sure Steuben's is donating," he says. "And Cafe Colore in Writers Square."
When we talked to him, he was about to start tackling the rest of his options to determine whether he'd rounded up enough food. And he's still welcoming offers, if any restaurateurs out there feel compelled to help.
We have a feeling the outpouring of support will make for a pretty sweet party.
