Free oatmeal this morning at McDonald's, followed by an oatmeal festival on Saturday
Get it while it's hot
The McDonald's Restaurant at 300 South Broadway (on the corner of Alameda and Lincoln) is handing out free oatmeal today from 7 to 9 a.m. Their "Sweet Harmony Oatmeal" street team is luring customers into the store parking lot to give out free, full-sized samples of their new fruit & maple oatmeal.
Mc Doo's latest breakfast menu item is 100 percent natural whole grain oats with light cream and optional brown sugar, topped off with fresh diced red and green apples, dried cranberries and two kinds of raisins.
And if you miss this outpouring of oats, or just have a craving for oatmeal overload, then on Saturday head over to the 15th annual Quaker Oatmeal Festival in Lafayette, held at Pioneer Elementary at 101 East Baseline Road. Festivities commence at 7:30 a.m. with a hot oatmeal breakfast featuring "the world's largest oatmeal toppings bar." Organizers note that lines are shorter between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m.
Events include a health fair, the "Quicker Quaker" 5k walk/run and an oatmeal baking contest. There's a free shuttle at the City building located at South Public Road and South Boulder Road. Shuttle service will run continuously form 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to and from Pioneer Elementary.
