Reader: Kevin Taylor steakhouse is a fake house

Kevin Taylor Steak had a pretty announcement package, but the reality isn't as pretty.
Tomorrow we'll post our monthly Restaurant Roll Call, chronicling the spots that opened and closed in January. Eleven months from now, we'll compile all those Roll Calls into a comprehensive look at the past year, just as we did with our 2010 Restaurant Roll Call.

To create these lists, we keep another, internal list, tracking all the proposed restaurants that have been announced. Many of their projected openings are delayed weeks, months, even years. Some never appear at all.

For example, residents are still waiting for the appearance Kevin Taylor Steak, which was originally supposed to open in September 2009, then last may, and is is nowhere in sight, prompting this recent post from Dude:

I live at the Arista apartments and we've taken to calling it the Fake House, it goes along well with the Aloft's fake Spa, that's also "coming soon". Residents are pretty sure it's all a ploy to get people to move in. The neighborhood looks like it's being developed with great restaurants, bars, a spa, but it's all advertisements. It's a real shame that they tempted us with the fabulous fake house.

Today, the Kevin Taylor Restaurant Group web site lists five restaurants -- none at Aloft.
