Reader: I love local restaurants, but not on Valentine's Day

While restaurants across town are touting last-second Valentine's Day specials, some readers made their plans long ago: to stay home. Mmmmgood explains why in this response to Kyle Garratt's most recent In the Weeds rant:

I love me some restaurants and get out to as many as I can as often as I can and I NEVER go out on Valentine's Day. Normally great places with wonderful servers and service somehow transform into places I don't recognize. Do yourself a favor, grab your sweetie and spend your dining budget on a great bottle of wine and some massage oil!

While that sentiment is certain to break the hearts of restaurateurs, it's shared by other readers. How do you feel about eating out on Valentine's Day? Post your thoughts below:

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful dinner last night at Osteria Marco with a server who helped us with a perfect wine pairing and then floated into the background proving to be helpful and to leave us alone at the same time. If you don't like preset menus and the shuffle 'em in-shuffel 'em out mentality, then go the day before or the day after Valentine's Day. Still supporting the local restaurants, enjoying a wonderful meal, and skipping the crowds, ahhhh...perfection.
