Pound the pavement (cuisine) at today's Innovation Day Food Fest on the Auraria campus

The ground may be dusted with white powder, but a little snow isn't enough to put the breaks on the ten street food trucks and carts that will feed mouths on the Auraria Campus beginning at 10 a.m. as part of Innovation Day, an event hosted by Metro State's Center for Innovation, which promotes small business ownership and advances in entrepreneurship -- including the mobile street fleet.

Beginning at 9:15 this morning, in the Tivoli Turnhalle, two entrepreneurs who have elevated the city's pavement cuisine -- Biker Jim (Biker Jim's Gourmet Hot Dogs) and Sean Moore, the driving force behind Clyde and Clementine, the Denver Cupcake Trucks -- will lead a seminar, along with the founder of Mile High Pedicabs, about rolling out a business on wheels, and then, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Jim and and Moore, along with the BikeCaffe, Crock Spot, Deluxe Street Food, El Caribe Venezuelan Arepas, Mikes2 Kitchen, N.Z.'s Smokin' Guns, Steuben's Food Truck and Street Eats, will swell stomachs with everything from soups to sausages. The squadron of food vendors will be located on campus, between the ball fields and the Auraria Event Center.
