Last night for Oysters and Beer, but Colorado Beer Week continues for a few more days

There's nothing fishy about Oregon specialties.

More than 900 oysters arrived at the Cheeky Monk yesterday on an overnight flight from the Oregon coast -- all of them destined to be consumed with Rogue beers.

That comes out to a dozen each for the 75 people who bought tickets to the sold-out Colorado Beer Week event last night. As for the beers, there's no telling how much was consumed, but Oregon's Rogue Ales had four on tap: Chatoe Rogue OREgasmic Ale, Chipotle Ale, barrel-aged Dead Guy Ale, and Hazelnut Brown Nectar.

So far, Colorado Beer Week's inaugural year has gone well, with just a few glitches here and there, says organizer Scott Kerkmans, who was on hand last night at the Cheeky Monk. Several of the series of beer-related parties have sold out.

And although the week (which was actually more like nine days) ends tomorrow (or possibly Saturday with a proposed event at Strange Brewing), there is still time to get in on the remaining events at Falling Rock, Freshcraft and other bars.
