Lucile's is now serving in Littleton

Let the good times roll! Lucile's Creole Cafe has now brought a taste of the bayou to Littleton. The fifth link in a chain that started in 1980 in Boulder, then added Fort Collins and Longmont, and stretched to Denver in 2005, is now in the south suburbs, too, occupying part of the vast Riverfront project abruptly vacated last fall by Leo Goto's various ventures.

The Littleton restaurant opened yesterday morning, and the lines aren't quite as long as those on South Logan. Yet. Lucile's is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For more information, call 303-797-1190.

Sunday breakfast, pain perdu (French toast) for me, grits and shrimp for my companion.  The sausage was chewy and overly spicy, and I don't care for cinnamon in my iced tea, which is the only kind they have.  Also, lunch items were not available at all, even though it was early afternoon and they were listed with the specials.  Maybe it's just that the menu differs considerably from the usual Colorado breakfast joints, but overall, this place is a little too offbeat for me.  The meal was okay, not terrific, and didn't offset a hassle at the cash register.  They seriously need to find someone who knows how to count change.
