Tacos y Salsa finally opens in downtown Denver

Just in time for Cinco de Mayo, the family-owned, homegrown Tacos y Salsas chain has opened its most colorful location -- in downtown Denver, in the former home of Cilantro Fusion at 1531 Stout Street.

This Tacos y Salsas offers the same wide array of tacos, as well as a self-serve chips and salsa bar. But it also has a full bar (not all Tacos y Salsas locations have a liquor license), as well as new combination plates: thirteen pre-set combos, and if none of those work, diners can build their own.

That's not the only innovation at this new spot: A plan is in the works to include an "express" burrito bar.

The downtown Tacos y Salsas is open 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. Sunday through Monday, and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until three a.m., hours that should make it popular as the bar-hopping crowd leaves LoDo.

No offense...but why in the world would that matter? Are there times where one should NOT eat out at restaurants? Fresh food, good service, fair value...it's not that hard...

Absolutely disgusting! The food did not taste fresh and the "beef" did not taste like beef. The service was horrible. Could not eat anything
I also ate at Tacos y Salsa. It was the most disgusting excuse for food I have ever had. I ordered barbacoa tacos. I got stringy beef on a taco - that's it. It tasted horrible. I also ordered a crispy relleno. The relleno looked like it had sat under a dripping facet. It was undistinguishable as any relleno I had ever had. I decided to leave right away and went to check out. The waitress took my money and kept the change - without asking me! I left and plan to NEVER go back.
This place might have a fine following at their Federal and Commerce City locations but I had the worst meal of my life at the downtown location yesterday. We were one of two tables at 11:15 a.m. and service was terrible -- took the server three attempts to get my friends' Dr. Pepper drink orders right and this was after we sat for at least 10 minutes without a drink at all. When the chips and salsa arrived most of the chips in the basket were broken and in crumbs -- but if we were to get another order it would have cost us $1.50! When our entrees finally arrived we were really disappointed. The guacamole was a dark slimy green, obviously more than a day old. Beans tasted as if they were straight from a can. My friend and I both ordered dishes with chicken. The meat was indistinguishable. It looked like a bunch of dark meat chicken that had been fried, chopped, and fried again. Anything but fresh. We immediately regretted eating any of it. It took ages to get our check and the server never came to get our money. We had to find someone to check us out at the counter. When we left we were 1 of about 6 tables in the entire place. The icing on this crap cake -- I was force to leave work for the afternoon and spend the rest of my day in the bathroom. This review is no exaggeration and if this location were listed in Google search results, on Yelp, or Urbanspoon I'd be posting this review in a more prominent place. Thanks Tacos Y Salsa for ruining Mexican food – and my day.
