Buchi Cafe Cubano doubles in size

We're fans of Buchi Cafe Cubano; it recently made our list of Denver's five best spots for sandwiches. Buchi's Cuban is particularly good; this is one of the few places in town where you can find ham, pork and Swiss pressed between slices of real Cuban bread.

But when we stopped by to take pictures last week, the doors were closed.

Fortunately, the closure was very quick. Buchi was out of commission for just one day, so that the owners could finally finish the dining room renovation that's been under way for a year now. That project involved knocking down the wall between the two sides of the space in order to triple the size of the kitchen and double the size of the dining room.

Buchi is definitely open for business again, and Layla Barr, who owns the place with her husband, Emmet, says more changes are in store. "We're adding dinner entrees, more sandwiches and more salads," she promises.

That expanded menu will be available sometime in the next couple of weeks.
