Score free food and drink at the Justice League of Street Food party on Saturday

Justiceleague2011.jpg
The Justice League of Street Food, the convoy of food trucks and carts that gave a whole new meaning to pavement cuisine when it became a superpower of street food last summer, is gearing up for its second party of the season -- and we're giving one Cafe Society reader (and a guest) free rein to eat and drink without spending a single copper penny.

The street stampede of eleven trucks will gather at 5 p.m. on Saturday in a lot at 29th and Huron, and along with lots of beer and food, there's also going to be live entertainment. "We've got super cool surprise entertainment lined up that's going to blow people away," promises Delores Tronco, who organizes the Justice League events. "It's the biggest entertainment undertaking that we've done so far, and while I can't give too much away, I'll give you this much: It involves music and a lot of other visual effects, and it'll take the party by the storm after 9 p.m."

In addition, says Tronco, beer will more readily available, which is good news for those of you who have complained about the dearth of suds -- and the long lines to get a brew. Avery is pouring the beer, and, along with two beer bars, there will be two Avery beer wagons, which will be pulled around the party, and if you catch a wagon on the move, you can buy a beer while waiting in line.

Also cool: All the trucks are rolling out a new menu item to go along with their regular truck menus. Here's what each truck/cart has in store:

Biker Jim's Gourmet Dogs : Vietnamese bahn Mi sausage with pickled cucumber slaw
Stick it to Me: Moroccan turkey kabob with a harissa aioli
Gastro Cart Denver: Mike Winston, who owns the Gastro Cart and Scott Parker, exec chef of Table 6, are making roasted vegetable "manwiches" with pickles and "Parker" house rolls, along with spicy chicken tacos and barbecued pork sandwiches with caramelized onions and bacon ranch dressing.
The Steamin' Demon: Crispy chile tacos with black beans and queso fresco.
Pinche Tacos: Shrimp ceviche "Xni Pec" Yucatan-style with pico de gallo, marinated peppers and onions and habenero chiles
Denver Cupcake Truck: Milk and chocolate chip cookies
Denver Biscuit Bus: Chicken cordon bleu with cheddar, Niman Ranch ham and honey butter
Sully's Slice Truck: Nutella dessert pizza
Deluxe/Little Orange Rocket: Chinese barbecue ribs
Steuben's: Surprise!
Cream City Treats: Ice cream and ice cream sandwiches

So...how do you win the free loot? Tell us, in 50 words or less (we're being generous this time around) who your favorite superhero is and why, and what superpower you'd most like to have and why.

We'll announce the winner on Friday, no later than 5 p.m.

Please remember to leave at least your first name, along with a valid e-mail address, when you type in your submission in the comments section.

Have to go with Rouge from x-men because not only is she a bad ass, but she also can absoarb other mutants powers and memories. So it's the best of all worlds! If I were Rouge I would ask myself what super power I felt like having that day and make it happen!

May be too late..but since no one has mentioned the greatest (and most underrated) superhero of all time ------ (drum roll) ------  Aquaman!!!!  He rules 90% of the world (errr that's water) and he desperately needs a movie like everyone else.

I have to say Superman! He can fly faster than a speeding bullet! Not to mention he is one of the few BORN superhero's, trying to be a regular guy. As these others are regular guys, trying to be hero's. My power would be to consume alcohol without blacking out! :)

Ben Oren
Ben Oren

Captain Underpants!! He flies around in underwear that allows him to eat massive amounts of food from street vendors without having to make pit stops.

The one and only Captain America, Super strength quickness, and the almighty shield, He stands for the people in the most patriotic way He is the representation of what it is to be sn American

Silver Surfer! He has power cosmic which lets him time travel, re-arrange molecules, and even bring people back from the dead! He would be my guest of choice, just in case I OD on food, he can revive me superhero style!

Superhero's Anonymous are a real-life group of American heros that help feed the homeless and better their quality of life. As we indulge in great food this weekend, let's all be heros and pick up an extra hotdog for someone on the way back to the car!

Hungry Girl

My favorite superhero is Mad Eater Lad. Some might think him lame, but his superpower of eating through any substance (except human flesh!) seems appropriate for a Justice League food cart gathering. I wish myself the same Super Eating powers this weekend.

My grandfather bc he is 96, still grows his own herbs, cooks, etc.....and he might be the last person on earth who remembers what chicken actually tastes like.

Rogue from the X-Men was always my favorite, because she could take other people's powers, had super strength and could fly. I would like to be able to teleport- because with the time I'd save not sitting in traffic, I could probably find a cure for cancer.

Shadowcat from the X-Men because I could take all kinds ofmad shortcuts and would be killer at hide and seek. My favorite superpower: tobe able to understand any language. Then, I could know what the locals REALLYthink of me when I travel and I'd never get ripped off!

Favorite super-hero? The Zach Attack, my 4-year old son, complete with crew-cut and red-and-purple cape emblazoned with his initials. As for the superpower, I just wish I had more room for the great food. Three or four carts are never enough!

A wonder twin - the girl who's a shape shifter - she has strong family ties, a pet monkey and can shift into any animal (from earth, space or mythology) - we all want to be a fly on the wall or a big fire-breathing dragon at different times.  I would shift into a bird a lot because flying would be my super power of choice because it's cool and birds know it - they are always chirping and singing.

Quinine Girl, because what's better than having antimalarial, analgesic (pain-killing) and anti-inflammatory fighting abilities along with being able to flouresce in sunlight? Nothing I tell you, nothing. (...and I'm the sweet elixir to your gin or vodka http://bit.ly/nBaAAZ)

Id be Rorshach from Watchmen. Why? Because he doesn't give a shit and total badass when it comes to stopping crime. Dude was dealt a raw hand from the get-go and hides behind an awesome inkblot mask. Whats not to love?

I rather like Wolverine's regenerative powers and strength myself. I would love to heal like he does. I'd go for the power of healing by touch, and I'd love it to work on me as well.

Ryan

Spiderman because he had to worry about more than justbeing a hero he had to handle real life which was often harder than being ahero. The power I would want is time travel nothing like random adventures intime.

My favorite SuperHero is Mystique. She's grown comfortable in her skin, and isn't afraid to use her ability to get what she wants. As for a superhero ability, I'd like to be able to breathe underwater. That'd be pretty important.

Lovegrl
Lovegrl

I would have to say Claire from the show Heroes.  I just think the power of healing is incredibly noble, and I would only use it for good. All of us have loved ones we didn't want to see go or be in pain.  I could take that all away for let's say...free food and beer.  It's a small price I think.  I could also cure all those tummy aches from eating all the megalicious food!

Kacey
Kacey

My favorite superhero is Wolverine.  His regeneration is the best.  His character has a great heart despite his horrible past in becoming Wolverine.

I personally would like the superpower to control the weather like Storm. Nothing is more powerful than nature.  Being able to unleash that is just cool!

Kaceykaceyharris@gmail.com

Leslee

My choice for favorite is Mary Embry from Hancock.  She has the "classic" superhero powers like super-strength and flight, the ever-awesome power of immortality and yet can still love like a mortal.

I think I would find it very difficult to choose between immortality and shape-shifting for my personal superpower.

Optimus Prime!  He's like the trusty, wise, old sage who can kick some butt if need be.  Brains AND Brawn!  I'd love to teleport - no more rush hour or road rage.  And sleeping in an extra 20 minutes. Yes please,

Wonder Woman! Because she was hot and would kick a guys ass If necessary!

Rainbow Bright, partially because I have a kick ass Rainbow Brite costume.  Plus, she uses the colors of the rainbow to make our World brighter, which is truly admirable.  Personally, I would wish for the power to teleport- no more traffic, TSA searches, or family road trips...what a dream.

Pixie, from X-Men. She can and use her magic pixie dust which causes hallucinations. She can also make an awesome teleportation spell :)

I would love to be telepathy. Minding reading and control, maybe a little memory alteration.

Not to cut down anyone else's superhero ideals... but, let's be honest, who here does not live in constant awe and admiration of the Gummy Bears?  You know, the ones that bounce from here to there and everywhere with the killer theme song and the Gummiberry juice that gives them the power to straight up get from A to Z without a vehicle (Batman) or cape (Superman). Win.

Rick After Dark
Rick After Dark

My favorite superhero is Superman’s dog Krypto, because he has superpowers AND can lick his own junk.

My superpower would be the ability to turn back the clock 30 seconds, mostly so I could come up with a better answer than “Superman’s dog.”

Wolverine's Girl

Best superhero is Wolverine! He regenerates, ages slowly, and is super strong! Bet he also has a secret ability to eat extra lots at Justice League since he's my date if I win. And who needs skewers when he can roast Moroccan Turkey Kabobs on his own retractable metal claws!

Kristin
Kristin

Batman is my favorite super hero because he isn't all that super! He's just really smart and has the means (and the heart) to use it for good. However my super power would be shape-shifting. You can be anyone anywhere and blend into any situation.

Thanks!

Spider-Man is #1 for me. His comics helped me through rough times growing up. Spider-Man taught me the value of responsibility and to keep your sense of humor handy.

And I've always dreamed of teleportation, just so I could travel around the world to enjoy fresh, local delicacies for every meal.

Captain America is my favorite superhero because he was the underdog who was able to enhance himself and do wonderful things. I would want to be telepathic because I would be able to better help people since might not be embarrassed to share things with me since they wouldn't have to say it out loud.

Easy - Beast from X Men. He's big because he probably ate lots of street food, thus, giving him superhuman strength and super genius intellect (which is what I want).

 Autumn Beamon
Autumn Beamon

Wonder Woman is the best superhero because of her invisible plane.  She can go anywhere without anyone knowing.  If I had a super power, it would be mulitiplicity, so there could be more than one of me to do things...work, sleep, save the world, etc.

Autumn  beamon.autumn@gmail.com

Hands down, the best superhero is The Shadow. Not only does he have the ability to cloud people's minds and make his voice echo like crazy while laughing, but he also rocks some splendiferous chest hair while saving the world! I'd love to be able to create a nice forcefield, which would be especially useful when cars are crowding me as I'm biking.

Mr. Fantastic. My elastic nature would, among other things, allow me to eat as much street food as I wish, which at present is always more than is physically possible. You may have to roll me out of there in the end, but I could pack it in.

I've always had a thing for Batman. It's mostly the black colour scheme, but I like a superhero who is just a guy who knows the value of toys. I'd like Flash speed for myself; I feel it would give me those extra hours I'm looking for every day.

Bevo33
Bevo33

It's gotta be batman.  Just your average super rich guy with amazing toys that make him into a superhero!!  Plus he's capable of my favorite super power of flight paired.  And you can't not mention his unending charm and unending ability to get the ladies.

Laura McD.  bevo33@gmail.com

I would be Professor X, because I value his ethical restraint in using his powers, which I would blow away as I will you to make me the winner. I don't actually think I could be trusted with mind control as a super power, so I think I'd rather be psychic so that I could have a chance at figuring out what my kids are thinking of.

Bartman, how hard was that.  His dad is Homer, who loves what?  Beer and Food, any way he can get it.  Who really needs super powers when you have a skateboard and that hair too boot.

Captain Caveman hands down. http://i.imgur.com/911Ba.jpg  This guy taught me a lot of valuable lessons, including that most of life's problems would go away if you hit them hard enough.  CAPTAIN CAAAAAAAaaaaaAAAVVVVVVVVVMMMMMAAAAAaaaAAANNNNNN!!!!

Also I think having the power to stop time would be the best.  Like right now I could stop time and take a nap and then finish this comment.

That's easy...Dr Strange, he dressed like a pimp, kicked it with demons, had a sick crib and had mad ill hectic spells. One power I wish I had would be to turn off a room full of cellphones with a wave of my hand...for obvious reasons.

Heather
Heather

I would say Elasti-Girl from The Incredibles for two reasons: first, she can stretch herself all over town in a split second and second, she is a mom who can work and be the best mom to her kids. Thanks so much - I am SO excited for this event!!!

Allisonbpatrick
Allisonbpatrick

I've always loved Rogue from XMen - hot superhero costume, amazing hair, surrounded by good looking bad boys with Gambit for a boyfriend. Forget about all of that "no touching anyone or you'll kill them" business - I wish for her superpower of looking fantastic in yellow and green spandex (because that is a seriously super power to have).
