Wrap Dawgs will bite on Cherry Creek North

It's not all doom and gloom in Cherry Creek North if you're a restaurant. Despite the fact that Argyll and Toast have both called it quits -- Argyll closed on Sunday and will reopen next year in the Baker neighborhood and Toast shuttered three weeks ago -- it's clear that not everyone believes it's a culinary wasteland.

Chef Mark Fischer, who has had great success with Phat Thai and Six89, his two restaurants in Carbondale, is opening a second Phat Thai in the fall on the corner of Second and Fillmore, and another new joint, Wrap Dawgs, is taking up residence at 3030 East Second Avenue, directly next door to FedEx Kinko's.

At the moment, the website is just a template, but it does say this: "Get ready for a Drop It Like It's Hot Dawg or Big Poppa Dawg." I have absolutely no doggone idea what that means, but at least there's some clarity on the opening date: September of this year.

Denver used to be a great place to live, I was born and raised around 1000 So Gaylord st area, i.e. Bonnie Brae, but I got taxed out of Denver and Colo by the last Governor, we moved to Montana and love it!  Perm license plates for cars at reasonable prices. my prop taxes went up 73 % 3 years ago and another 43% on top of that this year. If I could only unload my propoerty for what the assessor tells me it is worth!

I'm going to have to agree with Mantonat, that they didn't use a "z" at the end of Dawgs is going to be their downfall.  Well, that, and the fact that it's a terrible concept in one of the absolutely worst locations in Cherry Creek.  Nothing says "c'mon in" more than a north-facing, can't-be-seen space that is surrounded by stairways and an overhang.  So I'll put the over/under at 2-months, and guess that they never actually open.  I mean, you can get a hot dog for $2 on almost any street corner, and for those who want a gourmet dog, I don't think a place that's called "Wrap Dawgs" is going to cut it.

the name alone will guarantee i never step foot in there.

Sounds like this concept I came up with a few years back called, "Taco Dog." You take a bratwurst, wrap it in a flour tortilla, stick it in in a fryer and top it with nacho cheese and pico. It was my stoner late night snack...I just never got motivated enough to take it to the streets. My logo was better though, it was a dog in a cape.

No self-respecting Cherry Creek snob would go to some place named "Wrap Dawgs".

Visited the website. It really did say "Drop it like it's hot dawg." Brilliant. I put the over/ under at 12 months.

I think they really fell short of their street cred goal by not using a "z" at the end of dawgs. Dawgz would be way awesomer.

No doubt. That place will last as long as Poochie the dawg did on the Itchy and Scratchy Show. "I have to go now. My planet needs me."
