After almost fifteen years, Dixons Downtown Grill will serve its last meal on Labor Day. Want to be there? We're going to give away brunch for two on September 5 to the person who posts the most interesting memory of Dixons in the comments section below. The deadline is 5 p.m. Thursday, September 1.
But this weekend, you'll have a chance to make a few last memories at Dixons.
LoDo residents are holding a wake at a Dixons closing party from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, September 3,at the restaurant at 1610 16th Street. And no doubt some of them will return on Sunday for a hangover-curing Bloody Mary.
Dixons has been a LoDo institution since it opened almost fifteen years ago, shortly after Coors Field hosted its first game and this part of downtown started changing...fast. But Dixons was a constant....until it came time for its owners, Lee Goodfriend and David Racine, to sign a new lease on the space. Instead, they decided to close Dixons and focus on their remaining restaurant, Racines, which keeps packing the crowds into a building they own.
