Tamales Moreno is housed in a dilapidated yellow building on the corner of Sheridan and Mississippi on a piece of real estate directly across the street from a cleaner -- and busier -- Tamale Kitchen. But as I discovered when visiting the place for this week's review, skipping Tamales Moreno would be a mistake. The place offers some of the tastiest tamales I've had in town.

Mark Manger Fried rellenos
Mark Manger The green chile is the color and consistency of split pea soup, but it has a tangy flavor and a slow burn that the kitchen will happily make hot enough to melt your intestines.
Mark Manger Tamales stuffed with pork and green or red chile are available smothered and by the half dozen or dozen.
Mark Manger Tamales are supplemented by a menu of other Mexican fare, like burritos, tacos or enchiladas, like these.
