Lone Tree Brewing will bring craft beer to the suburbs this fall

As bold beer drinkers continue their assault on the fizzy yellow brews of the world, they have begun to march outside of Denver's urban core -- and into the wild world of the suburbs.

The latest outpost: Lone Tree Brewing, which plans to open in October in the Parkway Point building at 8222 Park Meadows Drive, across from Furniture Row.

To do it, though, business partners John Winter and Jason Wiedmaier had to convince the City of Lone Tree to change its zoning code to allow for a tasting room.

"People in the area have experience with brewpubs," Wiedmaier says, pointing out that there are couple of chain brewpubs in the area. "But they didn't have experience with the concept of a tasting room that serves beer but not food."

They will now. Wiedmaier, a high school teacher and former employee of the Brew Hut homebrew store in Aurora, will serve as Lone Tree's brewmaster, and he plans to unleash six flagship beers and several seasonal ones on the seven-barrel brewing system he bought earlier this year from Aspen Brewing Company (which was upgrading). In the works are: Hoptree IPA, Mountain Mama Helles and Puddle Jumper Pale Ale.

Weidmaier and Winter met four years ago at the Brew Hut, where Winter was a frequent customer. He developed a knack for home brewing pretty quickly," Weidmaier says. The two became friends and decided to go into business together.

The 5,000-square-foot brewery will also have seven fermenters. Customers will be able to stay and have a pint or take their beer to go in growlers or kegs. Lone Tree will also make soda for kids and non-drinkers; it will be open seven days a week.
